Hat Party with Kim

The Hat Party with Kim this afternoon was a delight.  My camera was at home, resting, because it was not with me.  I am hoping that she will put photos of the class in her blog.  I did find my camera as soon as I got home, and as I was putting my things away I took a few photos to share with you.

Please forgive my photo placement because I do not know how to rotate the photos in my blog, I bet I have to rotate it before I upload it....  These pictures are of the gift bag that she made for each of us in the class!  The hat is the cutest pin cushion all beautifully finished, note paper, pencil and eraser, and a package of morning glory seed, plus two pieces of wool to embellish our hats with.

We had fun, learned so many tricks and tips, and were served a formal tea.  Yes, you heard me, a formal tea.  Three types of steeped tea, three types of tea sandwiches, three types of tea cookies, fresh strawberries, cream and sugar were laid out on vintage linens and served on vintage tea plates and cups.  Oh, I wished I had my camera!  Her table setting and center piece adorned by Mary Engelbreit candlesticks and candles were the finishing touch to what looked like a picture that would appear in a magazine.  Oh, it was over the moon and delicious on top of that.

Boy, I was nervous about the making the hats.  Those of you who are familiar with the stacking, cutting and sewing can understand that when I read the pattern before class I felt like I was reading a foreign language.  Kim patiently lead us through the technique and soon we had asked all the "dumb" questions (well that was me) and we/I started to relax and sew.  I think now that I can "wrap" my mind around it all, it really is fun.  Again, thanks to Kim.
