Quilt Shop Heaven

About three years ago I tripped across a small quilt sign on a post near the school that I worked at.  It sure caught my attention while I was out doing errands on my 30 minute lunch "hour."  Wow, I never noticed it before and I promised myself that I would investigate where the shop was after work.

After work that same day, I grabbed my purse, charged to the car, and drove the short distance back to the sign I saw.  Tucked away, in a quaint little shopping stripe mall was Bearpaws and Hollyhocks Quilt shop.  I parked the car, walked in and found myself in quilters heaven. I will share the web site address and you can check it out for yourself.  www.bearpawsandhollyhocks.com   Lindy Munday, the owner, was cheerful and made me feel like I was welcome to explore the shop and available to help me or answer any questions I might have.  To this day she is still the same giving person and since I hang out there so much, I have seen her treat all who come to her shop in the same helpful manner.  If I remember correctly there was a new mall owner at the time I discovered the "small" quilt sign.  Today there is a nice big sign with all the businesses in the mall.

Bearpaws and Hollyhocks (BP&HH) is such a part of my life now I am sure I will mention it often.  In fact Kim Powers, who blogs at Kim's Big Quilting Adventure, teaches at BP&HH.  She is the one who introduced me to the world of "quilt" blogging, and I NEVER thought that I would be venturing into my own blog.  We will see how this goes - if you and I, enjoy this process....

Perhaps you have a favorite quilt shop.  If you do I would love to hear about it.

Thank you for stopping by.  Please come again.

Nice to meet you and congratulations on your new blog.
Unfortunately last week the owner of one of our 2 local quilt shops announced her retirement and that her shop is closing, that one has been a favorite, she really brought quilting to Thunder Bay. Hopefully there will be another shop in the near future.

My favorite quilt shop is either Patches ( www.patches3.com ) or Raspberry Patch ( in the process of moving right now)....One carries TONS of redwork, the other TONS of new fabric all the time...

i LIKE the lighthouse - it took me WEEKS to get this far ... seriously!

if you don't want the beam up badge in your frosted flakes and corn pops, i know a certain someone who would give them a good home - she keeps asking me if she gets mine when i die (kids ... sheesh)

I was sent from Kim's blog. Look forward to future posts. I am lucky enough to live in the San Francisco Bay Area where we are quite spoiled with many quilt shops. Someday I would love to take the drive to BB&H!

Hi, Gran! Welcome to Blogland! It's about time. :)

I always enjoy your comments to my posts on my blog, so now I get to know more about you. I'm looking forward to it.

My favorite quilt shop is an hour away, so you're fortunate that you work close by to BB&HH. You're lucky, too, that you know Kim in real life!!!
