Mixed greens or romaine topped with seasonal veggies, sprouts, hemp seeds, croutons and I think a Lemon-Mustard dressing (which she liked).

Moi had the  All American Wellness Burger 

Sprouted sunflower seed and mixed seasonal veggie "burg" served with onion rings, tomato, avocado, sprouts, house made pickles, fresh tomato ketchup, cashew mayo and their hot mustard in a crisp lettuce "bun".

I liked it!

I am just smiling here.  

We headed over to Meisners - never been there before.  I told you I don't get out much.....

I was quiet impressed with their selection of thread....

A quick shot of the display floor before we left.  You could have rolled a bowling ball through there and not hit anyone.....

I was able to find a couple of 1/4" feet for my machines and some bobbins and seam ripper.  You know the usual.... 

We then headed to Continental Display for a display rack that Kim wanted.

These were shots of the second story windows that I found interesting.  Well, both of us did, and I have to say I didn't get either window display.....

We headed over to Dessert Industries (DI) and straight for the "Crafts Gone Bad" isle. 

I did think that she was cute but nothing grabbed our ankles and said take me home....

Don't get me wrong - there were plenty of things to choose from, like all these ties.  We donate to DI and now I know what the tie happy hunting grounds look like.  

I did SCORE!  Found a couple of old glass plates exactly like the ones that I use for my Time for Tea and Embroidery Event each month, a Spode soap dish for my bathroom, and a couple of cute buttons for the center of some flowers I want to make.

All in all, getting Kim out of the house, away from her oven cleaning, and I think she is still in the kitchen striping the yellow waxy build up in the far corners of her kitchen floor...... was a Good Thing!

Some of This and A Little of That

Kim and I are teaching this class this fall.

My body one week and a half after the fall is doing well.  This getting old is not for wimps.  Seriously it has been a wake up call and I need to slow down and think - hard to do..... yet I am going to have to do it.  I don't have a balance problem, nothing extra ordinary to factor in just I need to think before I go charging off mind in one place and expecting my body to catch up....


Jury duty went well, never got called to be in the jury seat, but had to be there every day right to the end when the final jury panel was chosen.  Needless to day I did a fair amount of embroidery :o)

Kaaren's First Friday Freebie

Kaaren has a wonderful blog called The Painted Quilt - when I grow up I want to be like her....  Yesterday, she posted her First Friday Freebie pattern (she does that on the first Friday of the month.)  When I saw this yesterday I had to make a copy and found the right fabric to transfer it to.  (Kim gifted me with four cotton place mats that have a red border - they had embroider me written all over them and she said that they were calling my name ;O), she is so sweet she even washed and ironed them before she gave them to me.)

Slow start here this morning - last night I was out carousing at BP&HH with book club.  It was my turn to bring the treats.  Yes, cheese cake and cupcakes from Bel Air....  High sugar and some ice tea is what I brought.  I love the book club ladies.  We are going to be writing a book and putting out a calendar in the future.  It is in the planning stages right now....

I think the week is catching up with me and I am just going to gear down, enjoy being home and reorganizing some more in The Room.  #2 son flies in from the East Coast tonight at 9 pm and I have a fantasy of making a Key Lime Pie for his debriefing over the kitchen table.

It was fun!  When we "dragged" our acquisitions back to the room we sorted and talked until about 2 in the morning.

Jury Duty

That would be embroidery.

Yes, you guessed right if you thought that I got a notice to appear for Jury Duty.  Don't ask, Don't tell.  Our orders are to return bright and early Monday (they don't do jury duty on Friday's here in our county.)

I am bushed tonight and that is all "she" wrote.

Country Mouse Went to Market

The Hilton was waiting for us and we were checked in pdq.

The best food in town was at this English Pub.  We were joined by Laurel and her room mate JoAnn from New York.  We were laughing all through dinner.  

The streets downtown were open and hosted full restaurant dining on the sidewalks.  The evening was light and balmy.

The Target World Headquarters was across the street from us and was calling out our names.

We headed our round and fully packed tummies over and up the escalators and wondered around shopping on Targets multi levels.  Picked up the usual fare - water, raspberry tea cookies, chocolate, a few tops and hotel lounge ware.  You know the usual....

Thursday - Schoolhouse Sessions ran approximately every 20 minutes or so plus passing time and Lindy and I went to different ones so that we could compare notes at the end of the day.

First thing out the shoot in the early morning was meeting up with Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill.  It was fun to listen to them chat and catch each other up on the latest happenings in the big city.  Anne's new line of fabric is now at Moda.  It is precious.  THE BUNNY was very nice to the country mouse.

Landeur, Inc., has a wonderful block of the month program for stitcheries and the Heart.  I think we are going to be doing it at the shop.  Watch for the news.

This is one of the hottest new designers.  She has six children and is holding up her latest book. 

Her fabric line was fun and fresh.  You have to see the book to see what is under the birds wings. I was surprised to see so many of my country friends in little nooks and crannies.

The stitching wonders from the world "down under - Australia."

I loved to see their latest creations but most of all liked to hear them talk.  Reminded me of the old days in the old country.  Helen Stbbins is on the left - She is the one who ran the Angel Swap I participated in last summer.  

THE CANADIANS from southern Alberta!  This young lady is 21 and started a quilt shop with her mother when she was 15.  Yup, and they have written several books.  The one released at QMkt is called Double Take.  They make the same quilt with different fabrics i.e., current fabrics vs traditional fabrics.  Double the fun.  (And they were!)

This quilt is featured on the front of the book cover.  And, I saw today, that the book has already come into the shop!!

Lindy and I met up for lunch (had to keep up our energy...) (The Ruffles were because we were thinking of Carol Ann back holding down the fort. She says she would die if it were not for potato chips, so we toasted her and potato chips because she is that special!)  After munching and crunching over our notes and sharing all the goodies that we got at our classes, we headed out to meet at 6 pm when the schoolhouse was done.

Author,  Byrne-Goarin, Marianne of the new Cinnamon Inspirations book.  She was simply precious and talented with wool felting.

She shared about the thread that she is currently using - Lana, covered poly with wool.

Giant pin cushion in yummy colours of wool felt.

A Mr. Guy who told us all about Pellon batting.  He thinks that we are going to like the new Legacy for machine quilting.  It felt nice.

Black Bird Designs were at sons graduations and sent their editor in their place.  Their book was released at QMkt and we had a fantastic show of the quilts that are in the book.  

The books are in the shop now.  Woo, Hoo!

It was hard not to run up and touch them.

Helen Stubbins, the wonder woman who wears many hats.  On top of all that she does, she has started a publishing company and worked out a deal for shipping back and forth to the USA.

At six pm the Schoolhouse closed up.  Sample Spree was in two hours!  We are were happy and tired.  Each of us was loaded down with bags, samples and handouts.  So, we dragged our selves and attachments back to the Hilton, kicked our shoes off, put the tea pot on, got the raspberry cookies and assorted snacks we brought and proceeded to have dinner...  We had to rest up for the next event that started at 8 pm - 10 pm  Sample Spree.

I'll have to share about that tomorrow - country mouse needs to go to bed.

Kim  (Kim's Blog) came by yesterday afternoon.  We had tried all week to get together but with my teaching classes and the tea party plus her DH falling and breaking his tibia etc. we could not do our show and tell from Quilt Market.  It was exciting to share.  It was a case of imaginations going wide to be exact.  We ended up at Whole Foods.  You can read her blog - she is much better at "esplaining things."


If you even noticed... it is 3:00 am on June 1st and I woke up about 20 minutes ago.  Shish!  I am getting droopy again so I am going to head back to bed.  Ever have one of those nights???
